In a significant diplomatic engagement, Qatar and Egypt have reinforced their resolve to deepen bilateral relations, focusing on enhancing cooperation in crucial sectors such as economic investments, labor, and more. This commitment was articulated during a meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The meeting took place in Cairo, coinciding with the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.
Both nations celebrated the robust growth in their economic ties, which was marked by an impressive 80 percent rise in trade between Qatar and Egypt in 2025. They also highlighted the ongoing expansion of Qatari investments within Egypt, notably the sustainable aviation fuel production project situated in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Such developments underscore the strengthening economic partnership between the two countries.
The discussions extended beyond economic matters, addressing labor and consular cooperation, alongside regional issues. The officials underscored the significance of reducing tensions and fostering stability in the region. They particularly emphasized the need for continued cooperation regarding Gaza, advocating for diplomatic solutions to regional conflicts and disputes.
Moreover, Qatar and Egypt reiterated the crucial importance of maritime security and ensuring freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea. This aspect is vital for safeguarding international trade routes and ensuring regional stability, reflecting the strategic interests of both nations in maintaining secure maritime passages.
