Wrexham celebrated their first Championship win of the season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Millwall, significantly enhancing their ambitions for a promotion challenge to the Premier League. After starting the season with draws against Cardiff and Watford and suffering a home loss to Birmingham, Wrexham made a strong comeback in south London.
The breakthrough came in the first half when Millwall’s Zak Sturge inadvertently turned Issa Kaboré’s cross into his own net, giving Wrexham the lead. Kieffer Moore extended the advantage shortly after halftime with a powerful 20-yard strike. Jacques Ekomié sealed the victory with a close-range finish, rounding off a convincing performance by the visiting team.
For Millwall, the defeat added to their woes, as they have now conceded eight goals in two matches following an initial run of clean-sheet victories. Their difficulties were further compounded by injuries to key players, striker Josh Coburn and midfielder Casper De Norre.
In other Championship action, QPR continued their impressive form with a 2-1 win over Cardiff at Loftus Road. Rumarn Burrell was instrumental for QPR, scoring both goals, while Perry Ng managed to score a consolation goal for Cardiff. This result propelled QPR to a strong standing with 10 points from their first four matches.
Meanwhile, Burnley and Middlesbrough played out a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor. Aidan Morris put Middlesbrough in the lead during the first half, but Burnley’s Ugo Raghouber equalized shortly after the break. Charlton maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 1-1 draw against West Brom, where Callum Styles’ opening goal for West Brom was canceled out by Tyreece Campbell’s second-half equalizer.
